“What’s Happening to Summit County’s Workforce”
Presented by Sue Lacey
President, ConxusNEO
The question everyone is asking is "where are the workers"?
Every month in this country, over 4 million Americans have been leaving their jobs. Yes, that's each month, for the last six months; in almost every sector, from restaurants to factories. At the same time, the number of hires has managed to outpace resignations. That's a lot of "quits" and a lot of "churn". Employers in Summit County are reporting the same challenges. What the heck is going on?
Is this a short-term post-Covid adjustment?
Or a long-term trend?
What are employers doing about it?
What should they be doing?
ConxusNEO, a nonprofit organization, brings employers, education, workforce, economic development and community-based organizations together to build a better workforce system in Summit County. Their goal is to innovate solutions that increase the number of residents who hold relevant industry credentials, reduce barriers to work and to improve connections between employers and job seekers.
ConxusNEO has been researching the experiences, expectations, attitudes and behaviors of working age adults as well as the recent efforts of employers as they try to hire and retain employees.
Sue will share what ConxusNEO is learning.
